Abstract
This study analyzes the phenomenon of cycling trend during the pandemic at NOOB Folding Bike Community Bangka. This study aims to find out the members' motivations that make them interested to join the community and to identify the cycling trend at NOOB Folding Bike Community Bangka during the pandemic. The method used in this study was a qualitative method along with a descriptive analysis approach. In addition, the data collection techniques were observations, direct interviews, and documentation. This study applies the theory of the Abstconsumer society proposed by Jean Baudrillard including the concepts of use value, sign value, and simulation in order to analyze the problems in this research. The results of this study portray that the phenomenon of the cycling trend during the pandemic at NOOB Folding Bike Community Bangka is developed through social media. Additionally, this trend is also a form of lifestyle change caused by the environmental situation where the society is currently facing the covid-19 pandemic that eventually creates a new habit in daily life. The emergence of this trend eventually provides a new way of self-change to take better care of health during the pandemic. Initially, this trend is used to fulfill the health need, however, it is currently developed to fulfill other needs since consuming a recent trend can shape an existence and social identity for the members of NOOB Folding Bike Community Bangka.
